The 2025 World Manufacturing Convention, set for September 20-23 in Hefei, Anhui Province, will spotlight China’s advancements in intelligent manufacturing and frontier technologies, drawing global leaders to explore innovations in robotics, new energy vehicles (NEVs), and quantum computing, according to organizers.

The four-day event will host representatives from over 40 countries, including government officials, business executives, and international organization leaders, with foreign attendees making up more than half of the participants.

The convention aims to foster collaboration and showcase Anhui’s transformation from an agricultural base into a powerhouse of emerging industries. A key highlight will be the debut of an intelligent robotics exhibition, featuring robots in simulated everyday settings like shops, elderly care centers, and service stations, moving beyond traditional factory applications to demonstrate their potential in daily life.

This marks a first for the convention, emphasizing practical, human-centered technology. Anhui’s industrial prowess will take center stage, with the province leading China in automobile production, NEV output, and auto exports in the first half of 2025. It produces 10 percent of the world’s display panels, 8 percent of China’s industrial robots, 11 percent of its NEVs, and half of its photovoltaic glass, according to Chang Yejun, deputy secretary-general of Anhui’s provincial government.

Major companies like JAC Motors, Huawei, and Chery will showcase smart electric vehicles, automotive-grade chips, intelligent driving systems, and quantum-secure communication technologies.

The convention will also feature frontier innovations, including a model of the Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak (BEST), a compact fusion experiment device under construction in Hefei, and the Origin Wukong quantum computer, which has completed over 690,000 computing tasks for users across 163 countries, amassing more than 34 million global visits.
